Case Studies
Kohler
Supply chain reliability engineered into every solution.

Kohler was already utilizing molded fiber packaging, but needed a better design and a more reliable supplier for their rough-in shower valves. EnviroPAK was the positive change this kitchen and bath leader required to overhaul this 20-year-old solution that had seen better days.

Tub and shower valves

Previous Material

Heavy wall (Type 1) molded fiber

Problem

Replacing inconsistency with consistency.

Kohler’s rough-in shower valves had utilized heavy wall molded fiber packaging for nearly two decades. And while the packaging material was perfect, the supply reliability had become inconsistent. This is not exactly a good thing for a brand shipping plumbing fixtures to America’s largest home improvement chains where “consistently” isn’t optional. That left only one option: make the switch to a company known for supply chain dependability and engineering smarts: EnviroPAK.

Solution

The supply of packaging never dries up for this faucet brand.

For more than 20 years EnviroPAK was already supplying Kohler with thin wall (Type 2) molded fiber packaging for various other product packaging applications. It was working flawlessly and being delivered right on time. So the path forward was straightforward: convert this Kohler SKU to Type 2 as well. Engineers created a custom solution to re-nest the Kohler rough-in shower valves that could now house roughly 25% more product. What resulted was more product per pallet, fewer truck shipments and a dependable supply of biodegradable molded fiber packaging from EnviroPAK.
